This was an experimental project where I played around with typography by animating it.
Personify a word by adding movement to it to reinforce the feeling behind it, making it more dynamic and tangible.
I wanted to create movement that was not only visually interesting to look at, but that also represented the meaning of the word. I was only required to choose one word and animate it, but I wanted to take the project a step further and create a collection of animated words.
I started by choosing the words I thought would be interesting to animate. I experimented with the
scaling, rotation,
and positioning of the words. I also played with the “Character Offset” properties (in After Effects) to
create the
animation of the word “Random” so that the letters would constantly change.
Initially, the background was white and the text was black. I then added colors to the characters and
background to make
the visuals more interesting to look at. The aim was to keep people watching the video for as long as
possible.
